Day 2: Londorossi Gate (2,100 m) to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820 m)

Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Highlights:
Rainforest hike, wildlife sightings including monkeys and exotic birds

After an early breakfast at your hotel, a scenic drive brings you to Londorossi Gate, where you'll complete the necessary registration with the national park authorities. From here, a short drive takes you to the Lemosho trailhead, the starting point of your adventure.

The trek begins in Kilimanjaro's enchanting rainforest, where the thick canopy provides shade and humidity levels remain high. The trail winds through towering trees draped in moss, while birds call from the branches above and playful colobus monkeys swing between the treetops. The air is fresh, filled with the sounds and scents of the forest.

Your first day of trekking is relatively short, allowing you to gradually ease into the journey. As the sun sets, arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp (Big Tree Camp), nestled in the forest, where you'll enjoy a hearty dinner and get some rest before the next day's ascent.

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820 m) to Shira Camp 1 (3,610 m)

Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Highlights: Transition into moorland zone, spectacular views of Shira Plateau

Following breakfast, you'll leave the rainforest behind as the trail ascends into a new ecological zone—heather and moorland. The lush greenery gradually gives way to open landscapes, where low shrubs and giant heather plants dominate. The sun shines brighter as the tree cover fades, and the air becomes cooler as you gain elevation.

One of the most striking features of today's trek is the emergence onto the expansive Shira Plateau, a high-altitude desert plateau that offers breathtaking panoramic views. As you traverse this ancient caldera, the sight of Kibo Peak in the distance serves as a constant and inspiring companion.

Arriving at Shira 1 Camp, you'll settle in for the evening, enjoying a warm meal and the camaraderie of fellow trekkers. The altitude here is noticeable, so it's essential to pace yourself and stay hydrated to aid in acclimatization.

Day 4: Shira 1 Camp (3,505 m) to Shira 2 Camp (3,850 m)

Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Highlights: Gentle acclimatization hike, stunning views across Shira Plateau

Today’s short but important trek allows for essential acclimatization as you continue across the expansive Shira Plateau. The trail gently rises, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, including the majestic Kibo Peak. Along the way, you’ll pass intriguing rock formations and unique vegetation, such as giant lobelias and groundsels, endemic to Kilimanjaro’s high-altitude ecosystems.

Arriving at Shira 2 Camp, take some time to relax, enjoy a nourishing meal, and soak in the spectacular vistas stretching toward the distant horizon. The evening offers an opportunity to experience unforgettable sunsets and starlit skies over Kilimanjaro’s dramatic landscape.

Day 5: Shira 2 Camp (3,850 m) to Lava Tower (4,630 m) to Moir Hut (4,200 m)

Hiking Time: 6–8 hours
Highlights: Acclimatization at Lava Tower, diverse alpine desert landscapes

After breakfast, you'll embark on a gradual ascent into the alpine desert zone, characterized by sparse vegetation and expansive vistas. The trail leads to the prominent Lava Tower, a volcanic rock formation standing at 4,630 meters. This ascent serves as a crucial acclimatization exercise, allowing your body to adapt to higher altitudes.

After a rest at Lava Tower, you'll descend slightly to Moir Hut, nestled in a secluded valley beneath the Lent Hills. This location offers a tranquil environment to rest and further acclimate. For those feeling energetic, an optional hike up the Lent Hills provides stunning panoramic views and aids in acclimatization. Enjoy a nourishing dinner prepared by your support team before retiring for the night.

Day 6: Moir Hut (4,200 m) to Buffalo Camp (4,020 m)

Hiking Time: 5–7 hours
Highlights: Remote northern circuit trail, panoramic views across Kenyan plains

Today's trek takes you on a journey around Kilimanjaro's northern slopes, offering a sense of solitude and expansive views toward the Kenyan plains. The trail undulates, providing both ascents and descents that facilitate acclimatization. The landscape here is rugged and less traversed, showcasing the mountain's untouched beauty.

Arriving at Buffalo Camp, you'll be greeted with sweeping vistas and a serene atmosphere. The camp is named after the buffalo that once roamed this area. After settling in, enjoy a warm meal and relax under the starlit African sky, reflecting on the day's journey.

Day 7: Buffalo Camp (4,020 m) to Third Cave Camp (3,870 m)

Hiking Time: 4–6 hours
Highlights: Continued traverse of northern slopes, excellent acclimatization

Continuing along the Northern Circuit, today's route is relatively shorter, allowing for a more relaxed pace and ample time for acclimatization. The trail meanders through alpine desert terrain, with unique flora dotting the landscape. The gentle undulations of the path provide a balanced mix of challenge and comfort.

Upon reaching Third Cave Camp, you'll have the afternoon to rest and prepare for the upcoming ascent to base camp. This camp offers a quiet retreat, with the looming silhouette of Kibo Peak serving as a constant reminder of the adventure ahead.

Day 8: Third Cave Camp (3,870 m) to School Hut (4,800 m)

Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Highlights: Approach to base camp, preparation for summit night

Today's trek leads you steadily upward to School Hut, the base camp for your summit attempt. The path traverses the Saddle, a vast plateau connecting Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. The terrain is stark and otherworldly, with the alpine desert stretching out before you.

Upon arrival at School Hut, you'll have the afternoon to rest, hydrate, and mentally prepare for the summit push. Your guides will conduct a final briefing, ensuring all equipment is ready and discussing the plan for the night ahead. An early dinner will be served, allowing for a few hours of rest before the midnight departure.

Day 9: School Hut (4,800 m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) to Millennium Camp (3,950 m)

Hiking Time: 10–14 hours
Highlights: Summit ascent, breathtaking sunrise, descent to lower altitude

Shortly before midnight, you'll be awakened for a light meal and final preparations. The ascent begins under a canopy of stars, with headlamps illuminating the path ahead. The climb to Gilman's Point (5,685 m) is steep and demanding, requiring determination and perseverance.

Upon reaching Gilman's Point at the crater rim, you'll witness the first light of dawn breaking over the horizon—a truly awe-inspiring sight. From here, a gradual ascent along the rim leads you to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.Standing at 5,895 meters, you'll experience an overwhelming sense of accomplishment and be rewarded with panoramic views that stretch as far as the eye can see.

After celebrating and capturing photos, you'll begin the descent back to Millennium Camp. The descent is long but manageable, and as you lose altitude, you'll feel a noticeable increase in oxygen levels and warmth. At Millennium Camp, enjoy a hearty dinner and a well-deserved rest, reflecting on the monumental achievement of the day.

Day 10: Millennium Camp (3,950 m) to Mweka Gate (1,640 m), Transfer to Hotel

Hiking Time: 4–6 hours
